Overview

Waking Words is a daily stream-of-consciousness journaling app inspired by Julia Cameron's Morning Pages practice. Your journal content stays in your private iCloud Drive — we never see it, store it on our servers, or share it. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services, and sends none of your data to us or anyone else.

Data You Create

When you use Waking Words, your journal entries are saved as plain text files in your private iCloud Drive. The files are visible in the Files app and sync between your devices through iCloud. Only you can reach this data, through your iCloud account.

We never have access to your journal entries or anything you write.

In-App Purchases

Waking Words offers an optional premium purchase that lets you customize your writing goal. Transactions are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not receive or store any payment information.

Other Network Communication

The only other network communication is with Apple's iCloud Drive service to sync your journal entries between your devices.

Data Stored on Your Device

• Journal entries (synced via iCloud Drive).
• Writing duration metadata (stored locally).
• App settings (goal type, word and time targets, onboarding state).
• Notification preferences.
• Purchase status.

Notifications

With your permission, Waking Words can send locally scheduled daily reminders to help you keep the writing habit. Notifications are managed entirely on your device and do not involve any external servers. You can enable or disable reminders at any time in the app's Settings.

Data Deletion

You can delete individual entries or all your data at any time. Deleted files are removed from both your device and iCloud Drive.

Children's Privacy

Waking Words does not knowingly collect any personal information. There are no accounts, no tracking, and no user-identifiable data beyond what is stored in your own private iCloud Drive container.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
